A man with Indian accent called to say the company was going out of business and needed, emphatically, to return the money I paid to buy the software product to fix my computer back in Nov of 2013. He said the only way he could give it back was to either put it into my bank acct, through bill pay, via western union or my pay pal acct. It was determined pay pal was the only way. They could only put a minimum of 800.00 into that account for some rule I could not verify and that I would have to send them money back and then they would get Pay pal to call me and get a confirmation number from me to then send it on to my bank. It was so convoluted that I said, just forget it and take your money back, cancel the transfer, and keep the money I had already spent. But they had conferenced into my computer at this time and could control it and said that if I did not get the money they would crash my computer, fry it and I could not ever use it again. I realize now that it was all a lie, as I have tried to track it all down and there never was money in my pay pal acct, they must have put a fake page on my computer and that is why I saw the 800.00 in my account. When I called Pay Pal yesterday, they could not find any evidence of any money put into my acct or sent to my bank. They had said it would be in my account Tues morning, as Monday had been a holiday, Presidents Day.I also called the Help Tech 247 Company and they said they were doing fine and not going out of business and would never have called to refund any money. I told them some one was using their name to scam people. I also filed a police report at the advice of Pay Pal. Bottom line, I am out 600.00 dollars which could have been worse, but I sure didn't need to lose this. I vow never to talk to anyone with an Indian accent on the phone ever again. and If I do call some company and it get an Indian or Asian I will ask for an American rep or just not do business with them.
