We went into a rent to own agreement with a company based in sydney they told us the payments wouldn't be much more then we were paying then in rent which was $365.00 a week they emailed us contracts to sign and when we asked about a solicitor the lady of the company said she could go over the papers with us so we didn't have to pay another guy to do it . silly us agreed . the weekly payments ended up being $758.00 a week 5 months later things didn't seem to add up money wise so i went to a solicitor and he said don't pay them anything else we were just ment to be renting the house for 2 years then at the end of 2 yeras we could sign the option to buy the house . the company tricked us into signing the option first so they could double charge us . we ended up going through trade tenancy tribunal and were awarded some money back but our 4950 deposit has been stolen . they have threatened us with defamation lawsuits and more claims for damages that were already done to the property before we moved in. i have set up a victims group based in australia and i have had over 20 people come forward about this one company , and over 400 people come forward who have been ripped off with a rent to own deal in Australia .we want rent to own home deals outlawed and those who do them jailed for fraud.
