They claimed that on 9/1/2011 my wife agreed to a 60 months service to five different titles of their choice. This with a monthly contract amount of $49.95 with a monthly contract payment of 24 months. My wife told them no to any magazines. She said I do not want any magazines. They said if you did want magazines which ones would you get? She said Soap Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly, Good House Keeping, Ladies Home Journal and Better Homes and Garden. She stated she does not want them. We never did recieve any magazines.
Now we get notifications and numerous phone calls from Umbrella Recovery, 78365 HWY 111 #514, La Quinta, CA 92253, (951)692-7820. On the form the Umbrella Recomvery form they a Friend/refernce Provided: Jeff Johnson (Friend) 253 682 1437. We do not know said named person and that phone number is not active. They are asking for a settlement of $599.95 due within 30 days of their notice. They state should the amount not be paid within 30 days the full $1098.90 will be due.
We will not pay.

I just received a call from the umbrella company saying I'm going to collections, I've never received or ordered magazines but I owe 24 payments of 49.95. They tell me my actual town and street address but in south Carolina, I live in Canada and never been to sc. This is scary and not sure what to do!
