I ordered a free trial of the Aura Vie Skin Rejuvenation Regimen for my wife through the internet. After receiving it she said she never heard of it so I went to do an online search after receiving the product. I noticed a bunch of complaints against the company and ONLY THEN found out I had 10 days to cancel or I would be charged an additional $97+ AND I had to return any unused portions to their warehouse withing 30 days at my expense.
I emailed them right away and cancelled the order stating how I found out I had to cancel and they replied stating the information was on the same page as my CC information screen. If it was it was very inconspicuously placed because I NEVER order anything I am responsible for returning or canceling.
After several emails back and forth they sent me this:
"Offer terms read:
We take great pride in the quality of our products & are confident that you will achieve phenomenal results. By submitting your order, you agree to both the terms of this offer (click link below) & to pay $4.95 S&H for your 10 day trial. If you find this product is not for you, cancel within the 10 day trial period to avoid being billed. After your 10 day trial expires, you will be billed $97.88 for your trial product & enrolled in our monthly autoship program for the same discounted price. Cancel anytime by calling 866.216.9336. Returned shipments are at customer's expense. This trial is limited to 1 offer per household."
The price I paid was not the $4.95 stated and I did not order it directly through their website. I paid only $2.95 for S&H so the information quoted was incorrect as well.
I figured this company has to be in the rip off business because of the fine print they claim was there, the short period of time to cancel the trial, and the return policy. If the product was any good at all the trial period would be longer and the return policy is a trap to catch unaware customers so they can bill them the full price if not returned. I mean let's face the facts; why do I have to return the unused portion at my cost? Are they seriously going to reuse it? No. It is just another way for them to get into your pocket period, no other explanation is makes sense.
In addition if you do not cancel by phone or email within the trial period and prior to sending the product back you will still be billed because you have to have a return authorization number first.
Any reputable company would not make these requirements and even if they did the return shipping would be prepaid by them.
Risk free trial? I think not!
Update: 01/16/2014
Aura Vie just called me at my home and said they will refund the $2.95 S&H to make up for me returning the product. I can not return it for $2.95 but that is all they will do. I still have to return it, according to them.
