The phone rang and caller ID read Washington, D.C. I was curious and I answered. It was a female calling from 202-697-7222. She said I qualified for a $10,200 grant from the federal government as a result of a demographic survey they conducted. She gave me an ID claim number and another phone number to call to verify my bank information and the money would be deposited in 45 minutes. I called 202-738-1226 and spoke to a man that told me I needed to pay $180.00 for the bank transfer. I told him to deduct it from the grant money. He said he couldn't. I told him this is a scam and he ended our call. I immediately called my bank and reported them.
