I used this search service once and thought I would be paying about $1. Instead, I found that I was automatically enrolled into a monthly subscription service at $24.95/month. Because this amount was below my radar, I did not notice it on my credit card for 8 months! This cost me $200. I finally noticed and called my credit card company and the agent called People Finders in order to 'help' me get a one month refund. After the call I pondered why MY credit card company had not flagged the odd monthly recurring charge and then I realized that they are complicit in this scam. They get a percentage of all of the payments that are made to People Finders.
