I got call from 732-645-1697 telling me that there is criminal case file against me because I didn't pay 2010 CA tax. He even pretended to get IRS agent on the phone with me to confirm that. I played along and asked him how much was the amount. He quoted me that it was 1236. I know it was fraud at that point. First of all he is talking to me representing CA Tax board and calling me from NJ number. I told him I will not pay it until I talked to my tax attorney. He hung up. I called CA Tax board, and they told me that there is no such case and I owe nothing. I also filed complain with them (not sure how it helps). But this is first time experience this kind of scam. They were not prepared with all the information and that gave me the clue ( and there statement that my EFT is disabled so I have to pay cash). But unless government does something, they are going to be more sophisticated.
