A sales team from Elite Security, LLC sold me an ADT Alarm System. I live in Texas, and their company is in Utah, so I asked them about customer support. They informed me that there were 7 technicians in my local area, so receiving support would not be a problem.
Four months later, I moved to a different part of town. I called and told them that I wanted a system installed in my new home. They charged me another installation fee, and said they would schedule a technician to conduct the installation.
A week past, and I didn't hear from the technician. I called them, and they informed me that it might be a while, because they only had one technician in my area, he lives 3 hours away from me, and he was booked solid. It has been over a month now. I have been charged an activation fee, but me home doesn't have an alarm system. I have been charged a monthly monitoring fee, but my home is not being monitored.
I have complained to the management of the company, and they say there is nothing they can do, I just have to wait my turn. When I asked them about terminating the contract, because they had lied to me in order to get me to sign it, the informed me that they would sue me for two years of monitoring fees.
Since Elite Security is a third party vendor of ADT, I have also called the ADT corporation, and they have told me that there is no way for me to get out of my contract with this third party distributer, and I would be liable for the two years of monitoring fees if I tried.
I don't know which would be worse, paying a fee for a monitoring service that does not currently exist, or canceling and getting sued.
