I placed an order with the said Luna for some memory USB drives and sent payment via Western Union. When speaking to her via Skype I asked when shipment would be sent and was a given a tracking number, which does not exist with any carrier. The initial contact was made when I browsed the Alibaba website, i do not know if they got my email via Alibaba but it seemed all in order as I left some details on the Alibaba website for people to contact me.
Now their website is not active or her contact via Skype. Is Alibaba aware that their site has been hacked and their customers are getting ripped off?
How can we resolve this?

Alibaba site is not hacked, I use it all the time. Please do not blame Alibaba, you got scammed by Sangda Electronics I will explain why.
Alibaba uses Escrow service, that's one way Alibaba makes money. So you pay Alibaba and when you get your item and inspect it. You have a time limit to inspect the item before the money automatically gets released to the supplier in china. Once you are satisfied with the inspection, you notify alibaba and then alibaba pays the supplier. You are never to pay the supplier directly.
If you read Alibaba's instructions on how to use the site, they tell you to NEVER send money or payment to a vendor directly. For safety purposes you must only use the escrow service. You can see why and what happens if you don't.
Since you payed with western union, I don't think you can get your money back sorry. -

- Ryan - Im not blaming Alibaba at all for this. What I am highlighting is that it is very convenient that I was approached by Sangda Electronics after placing my query on the Alibaba website. Hindsight is a great thing but seeing that I have been jooped out of some hard earned pennies i will of course go solely through Alibaba. However, it is Alibaba's reputation that is being effected here and that must be a serious concern for them.
