I've lived at Bella Vista Condos in Waterbury CT for 9 years. From the start nothing but problems with the association and property managers.
On Sunday, October 16, 2011, I awoke to a neighbor pounding on my door asking if we had water on our first floor. Sure enough we did, we were the victims of a busted hot water heater. The 8 unit condo building exists of 3 bedroom, two floor units built on a concrete slab so the hot water heaters are on the first floor in a closet. In total, three units recieved heavy damage. A represesntative of G &W came over that day and told all three of us "not to worry the insurance will cover everything." LIAR!!!
Monday a work crew of three came and removed some of the walls, the carpeting, kitchen cabinet and tile for the living room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, and bathroom. Once again all three condo dwellers were told together not to worry that the insurance would cover everything. I left about 2:30 to do some errands. I came back to find my hot water heater disessembled as were those in the other two units without our consent.
The next day, the crew finished up stripping some more things and we were told that we would have to pay for and fix the units ourselves or give them $2,500 which was the insurance deductable. Everyone said this was out of the question and demanded our hot water heaters be connected again. G &W's CEO Andrew Gionta refused unless we paid that $2500 deductable. CROOKS. They took it apart, they should assemble it again.
When I have called G & W, they usually avoid taking my calls about this and other complaints I've had thru the years. Today, when I called I got Andrew Gionta and someone he said was his President on a speaker phone. While I patiently tried to express my complaint they were mocking me like high school boys. Twice Andrew has told me to "stick it up my ass." What a business professional this fraud is.
To make things worse, two units in the far end of our building also had a hot water heater break the sunday before Labor Day. I saw the dumpsters and workmen and thought they had been taken care of. Yesterday one of the occupants of those two condos told me and showed me that, six weeks later, their downstairs looked like mine. Her husband has been suffering nosebleeds and her son started having asthma attacks. They live on the second floor. unable to enjoy their first floor.
I am a diabetic wearing a wound vac from a diabetic ulcer that popped. It was bad enough the wound got soaked, but since Monday morning, I have awoken short of breath and feeling ill. There are school age kids and younger, a mentally challenged woman and others in these 5 units living in unbearable conditions.
Andrew Gionta has told me no work will be done on my unit unless I give him that $2500. Isn't that illegal? Last winter a leak from the roof caused damage in one bedroom each of two units. When we got someone to look at the work, it was patched with cheap plywood and a sheet of brown paper. I don't know when the gutters were cleaned out and that has caused problems for every unit. The lawn is mowed about once a month during the summer, trees and bushes are not trimmed regularly and during the winter it takes forever for a plow to show and good luck trying to get up the hill from the main road. It's usually slippery and not plowed well at all. I could go on forever.
G & W Property Management and Andrew Gionta are too be avoided like the plague.Andrew Gionta, get some of your workmen over here and repair our homes. We pay very good money and deserve to be treated better. What a poor example of a businessman Andrew Gionta is.
