GrantAssist.com offered to send me a "Grant Kit" for the price of postage and handling ($2.99). I submitted them my credit card information on October 7th, 2011, and the charge appeared on my card statement, but I never received a kit of any kind from them. On October 17th, I noticed that I had been charged another $58.39 for a membership to their website. I was surprised by this, because I had not requested a membership from them. I went to grantassist.com and saw that I had indeed authorized this charge, but it was hidden in a long string of fine print. I attempted to call the toll-free Customer Support Line, only to be greeted by a recording stating that the line was "not available at this time." I sent two separate e-mails on grantassist.com's "Cancel My Subscription" link. I immediately received the following, very polite response from the company:

"Thank you for using our online form to cancel your subscription to the Online Grant Resource Center. We appreciate your business and would like to thank you for choosing us as your grant search partner.

We are sorry to hear about your request to cancel. We will take care of everything at this time and make sure that your card will never be charged again. Please save a copy of this email for your records.

While the offer of a free 6-month subscription to this website might seem generous, I do not want it. What I want is a refund for the kit I did not receive and for the membership I was tricked into approving.
