My cell phone number was charged 9.99 for responding to a text that read "Thank you for signing up, Text STOP to not get anymore messages." There was not an agreement to be charged 9.99 for anything. I have seen other of these scams where they charge you just for responding to the text. As if that is acknowledgement of signing up for something? I will be contacting my phone company to get this blocked in the future.
