In February 2013 my wife and I were contacted by Aaron Cox who informed us that our home loan qualified for a government modification. I informed Mr. Cox that we has attempted modifications in the past and were denied, but he assured me that he and his organization specialized in assisting home owners with government modifications and the fact that we were denied previously meant that we qualified for assistance. We sent Mr. Cox the requested information that allowed him to act as a 3rd party as well as the requested financial information. Within 3 days Mr. Cox contacted us to let us know that his organization had looked into our paperwork and they were confident they could help. Within a weeks time received an initial modification contract that included our new proposed interest, principal reduction and new mortgage payment. The contract stated that since Clear Vision secures an agreement with the mortgage company upfront, they can stand behind their offers. However, in the event the contract falls through, the client will receive their full refund (~$4200). I heard from Aaron every week on Tuesdays for three and a half months. Every time the communication was that the new loan paperwork would be sent in the next 2-4weeks. Despite receiving letters from our lender regarding non payment (which Aaron instructed us not to pay) we continued with the process. Despite our lender communicating that they had no knowledge of Aaron Cox, we continued with the process. On once occasion we questioned Aaron Cox regarding the time line and why it was taking so long and why our lender would communicate not knowing who he was and responded defensively. All the signs were there, but we wanted so badly for it to be on the up and up, especially after being denied previously by our lender. Long story short, after the 3rd week in June we stopped receiving calls from Aaron Cox. Now he won't answer the phone, email, or return voice mails. Its like he fell off the face of the earth. We have filed a complaint with HUD, the BBB, and are pursuing legal action. More than anything we don't want anyone else to go through this. Now what makes our situation more interesting is in speaking with our lender recently, they communicated that they were in contact with other individuals from Clear Vision and that a modification package was submitted, which means Clear Vision did do something. It even caused our lender to offer us a trial, but not for the amount and particulars Clear Vision presented in their contract offer. We think we got it on both ends.
