Vacation in rural WI - very little TV reception although we were told it would be excellent with Dish. It was not even watchable - called for service tech- none available until a week after vacation.Reasons provided? Dish informed that their techs. have many different jobs w/in the company. I told them that Dish was a multi-million company & to increase their own profit, they must not hire enough people to service their clients, or, they must be pushing 3 or 4 jobs on 1 person which again means more profit for Dish & much less satisfaction for the client. In addition, Dish knows they have the rural people by the short hairs as they are almost the only providers in northern rural WI. We just learned that it would cost us $400 if we cancelled them- Why did we just learn this? I have no idea but we do not remember signing a contract-I have just requested a copy of this contract.Dish Network, to me,is just another example of corporate greed & is just as bad as government greed. But since many of our gov. leaders sit on boards of these corporations, what could one expect?

  • Cassie: We live in N/E PA and we have the same story as you with DISH. We got DISH 2-1/2 years ago. The reception was terrible; and we were told we would get all NBA games. Not. I stopped paying them and when 3 months went by, a collection agency contacted us. Now, the collection agency, DISH and us were going back and forth about a "contract" that neither myself nor my husband signed. What we did sign was the work statement when the tech installed the equipment and I had a copy of that. It took about 8 months but it was resolved. HOLD YOUR GROUNDS WITH DISH AND DEMAND TO SEE THAT CONTRACT like we did. When push came to shove, DISH admitted that we did not sign a contract and it was all a misunderstanding. Now, a funny part of the story. About a month ago, I got a telephone call from a collection agency stating that I owe DISH $35.00 for prepaid postage that I sent the equipment back. DISH sent me boxes with prepaid postage and did tell me that I owed them for the postage. Each box was a little over $7. I PAID DISH - so here we go again. After hearing my story, the lady from the collection agency gave me a number to call at DISH and told me to take it up with them. You keep fighting them Cassie and don't let them wear you down.
