Complaint to the company:

Jordan,

As you requested, attached are photos of crib model number 10214-215 displaying the left and right ends of the crib with severe flaking.

This crib was purchased late spring of 2008 and has always been assembled and contained in a nursery with central air and heat. As you can see in the photos, there is major flaking on both ends of the cribs. There is also flaking on the rails.

Currently, my second grandchild, Laura Gray, age 15 1/2 months, is sleeping in this crib. Laura was just released from A.I. Dupont Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, DE after spending a week with critical GI problems. She is scheduled later this month for Upper and Lower Endoscopy and Colonoscopy surgery.

My daughter-in-law is extremely stressed by the cribs condition and fearful Laura will ingest or has ingested these flakes resulting in further aggravation and harm to her health. Consequently, she holds Laura until asleep before placing her in the crib and fears Laura will be awake in the crib before she can take her out. This is having effects on my daughter-in-laws health as well.

Clearly, the finish on this crib is defective.

Your web site and product advertising states your cribs are premium quality, a good furniture investment and are made to use from sibling to sibling and generation to generation. This is certainly not our experience.

Also, according to the labels on this crib, it was made in Ningbo, China. Your website and ads state your furniture is made in the USA. We were led to believe we were purchasing an American made product.

Hopefully, Stanley Furniture will stand by its products and correct this inferior crib.

Company' Response:

Sharon,

Thank you for sending over the pictures. This crib was manufactured in November of 2006. We started producing our cribs in the United States at the end of 2009. When you purchased your crib in 2008, we clearly stated on all of our sales materials, as well as our website, that these were not manufactured in the United States.

As we discussed on the phone, our warranty for this crib states that it be free of any defects beyond normal use for a period of 1 year. This was purchased over 5 years ago. Further, this appears to have been caused by humidity and/or handling. That being said, we are unable to do anything further.

Thanks,

Jordan Shindell
