was selling a rolex watch on ebay and a guy emaild me saying he was interested in buying my watch but didnt want to use ebay serv. because he had problems in the past with them. he told me it would save me almost 1000 bucks buy going outside ebay. he gave me his phone number and address and told me to use ups cod service it was the safe way to make sure both of us got what we were expecting. he said he would get a cashers check after work and he would be ready the next day. i went to the ups store and began asking the clerk questions about safety and insurance on the item. the clerk told me if i get the insurance nothing could go wrong. so he gave me a nice box and heelped me wrap it. he asked me if he could see it because he had never seen one. he commented how nice it was. i payed over 250.00 for the insurance then i left it in the hands of ups. i called the reciver a couple days latter and he told me he had recived it. and i was waiting for my check. about a week latter i went to the ups store to pick up my check and wene i got there the clerk handed me a envelope and had me sign a recipt showing i recived it. wene i removed the check from the envolope my heart dropped. the check was torn in half then taped. the check had numbers on it as if it had already been processed, on front and back. i commented to the clerk that it didnt look right, he told me he agreed. he told me to take it to the bank and try to cash it. i took it to the bank and the teller told me it was probly a fruadulant check. but she would try to cash it but it would take 7 days for it to clear. after that i went back to the ups store and told the clerk it was probly a bad check and 7 days latter my fear was true. the check was a fake. i almost got sick ,i was horrified. i went back to the store and asked the clerk how this could happen , because he told me the delivery guy would make sure the check was a good one. and i was even more horrified wen e the clerk told me that the 250 dollars i paid for the insurance did not cover this, i was very confused. the clerk said ther is nothing i could do and he pretty much left it at that. i contacted a lawyer and he said the insurance i took out on the watch only covered damage in transit. i was crushed. i didnt know what to do. still to this day it makes me sick when i think about it. the value of the watch today with the currant gold prices values it at around 35,000 dollars. oh and i did call the new jersey police dept . and trhey said they couldnt help me in so many words. please help
