His name is Matthew Thometz, aka Matthew Jnana, aka Aloha Landscaping in the Seattle area. He was arrested on April 25th in Bellevue for multiple charges (DUI, Driving with a Suspended license, Failure to appear in court, Violating the Vehicle Interlock device on his car (the breathalizer 'key' to the ignition). http://mugshot-catalog.com/booking/4849084/MATTHEW-THOMETZ . He's a drunk and possibly still in jail; I haven't seen him post again on Craigslist since his arrest, and his voicemail box was full when I tried to call him the last time. He took a pre-payment for work I expected him to finish, though didn't return. I at least got a little work out of him (he cut a large tree down in my yard, though did not finish the removal or cleanup). I think he had good intentions, as he returned my calls initially (before he scammed me), and returned once to say that he'd come back to finish the job later, though I think his alcohol problems got in the way. Lesson learned for me: Do not pay a Craigslist independent contractor until after the work has been completed. When I met Matthew, it looked like he was down on his luck, has had a hard life, so I figured I'd give him a chance and help him out by giving him my business. Though it looks like he took our money and spent it on alcohol. He needs professional help.
