This happened over the course of a few days: 9/28 - 9/30.
I was in desperate need of a loan and found this company online. They emailed and said they could lend me $15,000 but I had to put up "collateral." I had three choices, put up my car, buy an insurance policy from them, or get a co-signer. My choice was to buy their insurance policy for $750.00. They didn't tell me until I was approved that they wanted cash only sent through Western Union. I balked and complained, but since I really need the money, I agreed. And they told me that because I was sending the cash via "Money in Minutes" the "disbursement" would arrive within a 2-3 hour window. I did get them to send me the actual contract which eased my mind a bit. I borrowed the $750 from my ex-husband and went to Western Union and sent the money to a third party 'investor' in Florida. (The Co. is in Connecticut). Of course, the money didn't arrive. I left voicemail for them which made me hopeful. At least they still HAD voicemail. This was a Wednesday evening. I left messages on Thursday, but as the day wore on, I felt more and more that I was scammed. BUT! Early on Friday morning I got a call from a Customer Service person who said I needed to send an additional $550.00 because there was a computer glitch that categorized me as a returning customer instead of a new customer and the price was different for a new customer. Well, I really started to get angry and asked what guarantee do I have that I'll really get this money, blah, blah. I got pretty pissed and raised my voice a bit and suddenly the phone went dead. I knew the customer svc. rep had hung up on me. I felt so defeated at that point. Then, she miraculously called back! In some twisted way, I thought it was a good thing. She didn't just hang up never to return so maybe this was legit! I still hesitated a bit, though. I had to really beg to get the first $750; this next chunk of money would be even more difficult to get. We agreed to speak the next morning to confirm the additional deposit was a go. Then proceed from there. Well, I sent the additional money, but it took a bit more time then I had anticipated, but still it was done. When I called in to supply them with the Western Union tracking/confirmation number I spoke to a different Customer Svc. rep, but he said he was aware of where Julie and I were in the process and he would handle it. It is now about 4:30pm PST on Friday. Nevertheless, Mr. Brown congratulated me and said my funds would probably arrive within 2 to 3 hours. I was thrilled! Maybe I wouldn't get evicted afterall! Well, you may have guessed, the funds didn't arrive that night. They didn't arrive Saturday morning, either, so I called and left a message. Julie called me later in the day and asked what happened and I said, "you tell me! I sent the additional money, I did what you said, and if you want me to fax the proof......." The phone was silent on the other end. That b*tch hung up on me AGAIN!!! Now I was livid! I waited, but no call back. No call that evening.
I began calling again yesterday at 4am. I got voicemail. I called every hour on the hour all Monday. By the end I threatened to call the US Attorney General's office, I threatened to call the local Connecticut cops and have them arrested, I accused them of trickery and of being cowards and thieves. Probably wasn't the best way to get them to call me back, but WTF??? I sent a fax today thanking them for f**king with my life. No response.
This certainly has put me in a world of trouble. Now all my bills will be late or I can't pay them at all! I work on commission, so spending all this time trying to secure this loan, worrying about my situation, etc., has made it pretty difficult to do my 'work, work'. I really am screwed. I am waiting for my landlord to start the eviction process (he already gave me a 3 day pay or quit notice) so I am now on borrowed time. Please help. I'm at the end of my rope! Literally! Thank you. I will contact the Conn. State Attny's office in the morning.

  • Did you ever get the money or your initial payment back? We just got approved for a smaller loan than the one you got and they need it secured because our credit isn't quite so hot (we just paid off all our debt in August, but with no current trade lines, credit scores aren't high yet). We really need this money, but I'm leery about sending in 4 months payments upfront if we're not going to get the whole loan or even the $660 back.

I will say that this is the only complaint I have found online about them, so that may be saying something. I will be calling the Connecticut AG and the BBB tomorrow to check for complaints, as well as the FTC. But if it all checks out, we will sign the contract.

  • I got contacted by this place too. They emailed me telling me I was approved for $7500.00 personal loan. I needed a co-signer, collateral or buy insurance. Collateral consisted of 3 months of payments sent via wire. I agreed to sending $580.00. I checked these guys out via the web and I found their address in new haven ct is a valid address. However, I contacted the realty firm in charge of leasing office space there and was told national union finance resource is not a tenant there. the BBB for CT said this merchant does not exist in CT, could not be found. A look-up on the company phone # on google resulted in an invalid phone # used for spoofing. Finally, my bank told me there are no protections for wire transfers, only for ach debit transactions. I contacted my loan officer @ national union finance resource & told them I would not wire it since there is no protection...needed to send funds via ach debit only. He said he would check with the "investor" and get back to me. Never heard from him or that company again. This assured me they are scam artists, ripping off as many people as possible. More than likely, IF they are in the united states, they could be operating from anywhere..a trailer, motorcycle, hotel room, using a business address they picked up out of the yellow pages or the internet and making up a phony website with a bogus phone system, designed to sound professional but in fact only directs callers to the scammers, where ever they may be. The important thing to remember is that if any company out there insists on payment for any reason and they insist it has to be wired only, 'beware'...normal companies have the ability to accept payment in various forms, including ach debit. If a so-called company insists on wire payment only, more than likely, if not certainly they are a scam. Western Union/Money Gram is the payment option of choice for fraudsters since they is no protection for your money. Bank wire transfers have no protection either.
