I recieved a phone call from GSA this morning saying a I owed a debt from a payday loan Advance America from 2008. The man stated I took out the payday loan and that if I did not pay the loan I would be taken to court.
He said I could pay the 490.00 today or installments of $250 for 4 months or go to court.
I asked for the address and the actual name of GSA and that I wanted documentation of the debt. He said he would not give me the address and that he had stated my options of paying the debt.
I told him I was invoking my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Act. He said papers would be delivered tomorrow.He then hung up. I called the number back (347)602-9393 and it is just a busy signal.
I called the company, Advance America, and was told I do not have a loan or anything in collection. The woman gave me the number of the Fair Trade Commission and told me to file a complaint.
