I was looking at what my option might be for getting a loan, so I looked at a few options online. After entering some information at a website, I received a phone call from a lender. She told me to log in to 123wages and walked me through the process of applying for a loan. It was a very short process, which asked for my banking information along with a couple of additional items. Step 4 involved typing in my name to finalize the application. At this point in time, I have neither been told what amount the loan might be, nor was the interest rate I would be charged given to me. I specifically asked the person on the phone "If I type in my name right now, will this create a legally binding contract?" She told me "No ma'am, nothing will happen until you receive confirmation and reply that you wish to complete the transaction." This was NOT the case. It was told I would receive a phone call I never received. I was never asked to confirm anything. I checked my bank account on Monday and saw that $200 was deposited. I contacted them and was told that I signed a legally binding contract and was obligated to pay them. I tried to explain to them that I was specifically told that entering my name would NOT create a binding contract and their response was "No you weren't. If you didn't want the loan, you should have called us and canceled". I had no idea that anything was complete. I'm not even sure I hit the right button! I clicked a button that looked like it might provide further information and it kicked me out of the system and wouldn't let me go back. I was lied to and tricked into obligating myself without full disclosure.
