I was in the process of purchasing a chevy lumina van from Helen's. Soon found out van had a blown head gasket, so I returned it. Helen then gave me another car. After having this car (red chrysler concorde) for 3 months, and numerous times of the car going in and out of her mechanic's shop, I no longer wanted the car or her business. The car was given back to her in February 2009. I went to Reliable Credit where I let them know that I no longer had the car and that Helen did. A couple weeks later she sold the car to someone else and the car was left in my name. I signed the bottom of the registration just like Helen told me too! After the other person got the car, an accident happened. I found out through the court that I was being held responsible even though I no longer had the vehicle. I went to Helen and asked for some paperwork to prove that I no longer was reliable and she gave me a paper that was illegal for me to have. (according to the DMV) When Seattle Public Utilities got a hold of me to ask what happened, I told them that I no longer had that car and haven't had it for a year. I faxed the paperwork and never heard anything after that. Now it being 4 years later, my license is suspended. It was suspended in December 2012, but I didn't find out until March 2013 when I was applying for a job that requires a license. So after contacting SPU (Linda)she told me to bring the paper work to DOL and have them call her. It was a huge waste of time. No one seemed to care or want to listen. I contacted Helen again to ask for my file and she no longer has it. My file had been thrown out even though I thought all businesses keep their records for 7-10 years. She would not return my calls, and avoided me like the plague. I got a hold of Leo, an employee of hers who has been there since 2009 and possibly longer, and he was trying to be helpful. She had him relay any messages to me. I know I am partially to blame for not double checking myself but I was naive and first time purchasing a car by myself. I feel that she is the reason that I lost my license. I would like it if she would pay half of the amount shown above because like I said earlier that I am partially to blame for not making sure everything was as it should be. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
