Received a text of my bank activity. It showed an unauthorized ACH debit from my checking account from '866-761-1124 DES:FUND ASSUR ID'. I have no clue who this company is and how they received my information - possibly scraped from an unsecure site.
I called the company to dispute the charge but only received the operator message stating they were busy. I'm more concerned that they may have other information besides my checking acct.
I contacted my bank who will dispute this trx. Charged $35 for overdraft as well. Bank said they can put a hold on my account where no debits can be made, only credits. I may have to close and reopen a new account if they have stolen other personal information. Pay day is coming up soon and I definitely don't want this to happen with a large sum of money that is direct deposited.
Has anyone been hit multiple times because this company re-attempted another unauthorized ACH (3-6 months later)? I don't want to close my acct but if necessary, I will...
