I had been applying for loans online. So today when I got an e-mail stating I had been approved for $5000 it did not seem odd. When I called their office (872-588-4071) I was routed to the processing center. I spoke with a Karen Douglas at ext 106. I was told I would payback the loan over 11 months in the amount of $400. to insure I could afford the loan, they needed my 1sy payment upfront and then the next payment would not be due until 5/31/13 and they would give me a call the day prior to each payment being due as a reminder. I questioned why I would have to do the 1st payment on this prepaid money pack. They said it was just verification that I could pay the loan. I said how do I know you wont take the money and not give me the loan? They said all they want is the 12 digit code on the back and that the funds could not be used without the 16 digit card number. That seemed logical to me, So I got the card, loaded it with the $400 and called Ms. Douglas back. Ms Douglas stated I would have the funds in my account within 3 hours. She called back about 2 hours later and said they had a problem finalizing the loan because my credit score came back under 800. She said they would need another 328 to finish processing. I express that it seemed odd I would be told I was approved, and then more funds were needed? I said I would call her back. I called the number on the netspend reload card and it states I have an invalid card number. You can't reach customer service without a valid account number. I call CASH LOAN USA back and spoke to Ms. Douglas again and stated something odd was happening with this card as it it stating not a valid number - she replied do not activate it or the card will be no good and we will not be able to process the loan. I said what is your address, and she gave me the 1608 S Ashland address, I did a google search and found all of this and my heart sank. Cash loans USA is the same company as USA loans.I the called 411 to try and verify the number as a business and the operator stated it was an unlisted private number. What is scary is when I called these people they has my SS# and bank account information. Terrified as to what could possibly lie ahead. I purchased this netspend card at Walgreen - I called the store and told them I have a card I can not activate or use. I plan to get a refund from Walgreen and report this to netspend. I thought I was smarter than this - they seemed so legit, but the 2nd payment a red flag and not that I see 49 other complaints against the same company, I'm so sad. This loan was for debit consolidation because I am sick and out on a medical leave from work. Please stop these people before they hurt so many more struggling people.
