I was employed by Yunis Mohommed, who is the owner of the Dunkin Donuts,and he terminated my employment on Monday April 2, 2013 after my shift ended at 1:00pm. When he asked to speak to me, we sat down at the table and he proceeded to tell me how he has gotten 2-3 complaints on me every week and he couldn't work with me anymore. I asked him what the complaints were and if this were true, why hadn't he said anything before. He never answered either question. I know he is not being truthful about this because I have seen him do this to a couple other employees.I also have a number of customers who are ready to speak on my behalf. My problem is I receive housing assistance, and being that I am now unemployed, I have to report this. They told me I needed some type of written verification from him stating that I was no longer employed by him with the date of termination. He refused to write a note saying it was a liability against him and I needed to get a form. I told my worker what he said and she gave me a pink form with the areas highlighted for him to say I'm no longer an employee and for him to sign. He told me he was going to be at the store at 2pm., he was not. I finally caught up with him at 9:30pm and he refused to sign this form saying it wasn't the right form, when it is indeed the right form. This man is for some reason dodging me and trying to avoid this paperwork for some reason and I need it for my housing. I have seen him fire several people by taking them off the schedule for no reason and then not answering their call or refusing to talk to them when they come by. We can work a 6 or more hour shift and not be allowed to take a break because he said by Dunkin Donuts franchise law, he is not obligated to let or allow us to have a break. My shift every week was 7am-1pm Monday thru Friday, and 6am-12pm on Saturday with no break. I have several people who he wrongly fired that are ready to speak on this matter, the conditions of the store, and the way he treats his employees, as well as employees currently working there now. I don't think it's right that he is able to do this and get away with it. As far as my situation goes, when he asked why I needed the verification, I explained to him that my rent is based on my income and being that I was terminated I no longer had income.He is deliberately being spiteful and something has to be done. He justifies everything he does by saying he is a franchise. Well, its not right and I'm speaking up on it. I have to provide a roof over me and my childrens heads and he is jeapordizing that.
