These criminals have stolen over 150K from my elderly parents. Area code 876 numbers are used for the scams. [The telephone companies in the US will not block these numbers - they are making too much money on these scams as well, Verizon to name only one.] These criminals 'talk' seniors into sending them tens of thousands of dollars over a period of time. First they talk the senior into raiding their savings accounts. Then they get seniors to open Home Equity loans, lines of credit, and credit cards to get cash advances from same. All transactions are in cash. However, in some cases they pit one senior against another to 'reimburse' others for espenses with losses. All names are WASP sounding in origin and completely made up. They play on elderly people not remembering what they did in previous days, weeks, and months before. They push the greed button of some with promises of cars and cash. If only the US Gov't would step in and protect their citizens. The authorities claim that nothing can be done other than to 'hang up' on scammers
