When I placed a book order I got a message saying I was eligible for a $100 online coupon/discount code. A cell phone was required to get it; since I provided that I have been getting calls from the "foghorn" cruise line (a well known scam) and offers to further my higher education. My email spam has also increased (home security and credit score phishing emails).
I was also enrolled in a recurring monthly ringtone and wallpaper download, but I cancelled that and my cell phone provider reversed the last two months charges (I got a renewal text message, this was the first I knew about it). I never got the coupon either.
