I am filing a complaint against hairstraightenersaustralia.com (Hangxy Network Technology) for selling me a counterfeit product, charging my account more than the invoice stated and refusing to refund my money after the product's heating mechanism broke. I hope by reporting my experience, I will warn any would be buyers of "cheap" ghd hair straighteners about the many scam websites selling counterfeit ghd products.

I purchased a ghd hair straightener for $83.15 online at hairstraightenersaustralia.com. It seemed a bit too good to be true, since ghd products usually run for more than $200.00. I foolishly assumed it was an outlet store. The product arrived quickly and looked genuine. It even came with a manufacturer's guarantee. However, looks can be deceiving and it broke after only two uses.

When I attempted to register the item (as the manufacturer's guarantee said I could), the ghd website would not accept the date code or hologram code on my straightener. I called ghd and the customer service representative informed me that both numbers were known counterfeits.

I contacted hairstraightenersaustralia.com to tell them that I had purchased a counterfeit product from them and that it broke after two uses. Their customer service representative, Mary Zhao, has been surprisingly prompt in responding to my emails, but will not refund my money. We have been emailing back and forth for months. It appears the only concern of the company is that the product looked good when I received it. They do not care that it no longer works or that it is a counterfeit. (Note: the email for their customer service representative is [email protected]. Laughable!)

I reported the website, hairstraightenersaustralia.com, to ghd and my bank. When I filed the inquiry with my bank, I discovered that hairstraightenersaustralia.com had not charged me, but a company named Hangxy Network Technology had withdrawn $89.55 from my account not $83.15 as I had expected and the invoice clearly stated. When I ordered the product the company claimed to have free shipping, so it couldn't have been a shipping cost. The extra charge of $6.40 has never been explained. The website, hairstraightenersaustralia.com, is still up and running, so I'm not sure what ghd can do to protect its brand's name. I'm still working with my bank to get my money back.

I hope anyone googling hairstraightenersaustralia.com to check if it's a legit website will read my complaint. My suggestion is to buy a real ghd hair straightener from the ghd website or buy a different hair straightener that is within your budget.
