I just came from my doctor in E. Rodriguez. Q.C.
The incident below also happened to me in their former store in Libis they approached me and said to sit down in the store they entertained me and gave me some gifts. They asked to buy food for them. I told them I am sick and no cash i just have two dollars. They told me to show them and they took them and never return.
They said that I was the lucky customer and that I won a very valuable prize (in this case a chair massager similar to a Lazy Boy). The only catch is that I have to buy a water purifier. They'll even throw in more freebies like a hand massager, slow cooker, expensive cookware, etc. Two women brought me home one is Michelle predicala with all the palliances that I DON'T REALLY NEED. I even served them lunch. I told them when I go back to US I'll check first the amount of the water purifier and then I'll pay you. They offered 52,000.00 in installment basis. They asked me my credit card for record purpose only they said. They left all the appliances and they put hem all in a balkbayan boxes. After a week. I went o to their store to tell them to get the appliances that they left me. Their office was not there anymore in the ist fl of Shopwise in Libis Q.c.
When I went home to US they cahrge my credit card with the whole wmt;. I realized the that they let me sign papers while at the same time showing me some appliances. My visa card is waiting fro their acknowledgment to just collect the market value of the purifier or return everything.
My daughter in the Philippines is being helped by Mr. Alferd dela Rosa of Home Sonic at 5779 (ntersact B;dg. Cor. Osmena Highway Brgy. Palanan, Makati City tel no.303-8800 and 09222276431. While waiting for his reply I am also asking you to please hepl me because I am very sicjkand I need to buy my medicine first. When we found out the market value of the water purifier maybe I will pay if I can afford it. Right now they owe me the said amt. above thru my visa card I never authorized them. I might have some something with them because I was trapped and confused.

This was an incident involving my mom (who's in her late 70's) while she was in SM Bicutan. The modus operandi of these scammers is to look for a victim (usually the one's who seem gullible and the elderly). Once they spotted their prey, they approach and say that they have a free gift. Once you entertain them, that's it! You're like a fly caught in a flytrap.

. Once they succeed comes the kill. They'll say that you're the lucky customer and that you've won a very valuable prize (in this case a chair massager similar to a Lazy Boy). The only catch is that you have to buy a water purifier. They'll even throw in more freebies like a hand massager, slow cooker, expensive cookware, etc. Wow! Seems like it really is your lucky day!

Here's the deal: the water purifier will cost you 48,000 pesos! If you go to Ace Hardware, you can buy a similar product worth only 1,500 pesos. Having a closer look at the prized chair massager is nowhere near a Lazy Boy and is made of cheap materials. Not even worth 3k pesos in my assessment.

After the sweet talk and a lot of pressure, they'll ask you for your credit card just to check on your identification...and presto! They return with a transaction slip which they'll just ask you to sign. Believe me, making you sign is the easiest part.

To cut the long story short, when I got home and upon learning of this incident, I immediately charged to SMB and confronted the so-called manager of Home Sonic. I was really furious and demanded a cancellation of my mom's transaction with them. Of course, they gave the hoops. Nevertheless, I stood my ground and demanded even more aggressively (read: BP was probably 180/120). And after two hours and with the help of the SM Bicutan management, they finally gave up and surrendered.

Having done some research we were lucky. Most people who have been scammed by them were not able to get back their money.

Friendly reminder to fellow muggers: be vigilant and remind your friends and family especially the elderly.
