On 5/25/12 I was in a car accident where the person that hit me, my car ended up being a total loss. Thank God no harm came to my two young boys ages 2 and 4 that were strapped in their car seats in the backseat. Well, this could not have come at a worse time because now I was going to have to get another car and I knew that I had bad credit and to find someone that would finance me I knew that it was going to be hard. Long story short, Universal City Nissan advertised that your job is your credit. Which for starters was false advertisement. They still have to run your credit and still had to search for finance companies that would finance my vehicle. On 6/17/12, we drove all the way up there from Long Beach, CA I found the car that I liked but also fit me and my two boys. It was a used 2008 Nissan Murano. It had low mileage, back up camera, navigational system, leather interior, I mean there was nothing not to like about this car. So now this is where the fun stops. The sales rep took us over to their finance dept. where in had the not so pleasure of meeting with the Finance Manager Susie Banuelos. As we walked into her office, her cell phone rang and she answered. It was her sister who had just gotten her purse stolen out of her car. Don't get me wrong, I felt bad for her sister but this just put Mrs. Banuelos in a whole different state of mind. The entire time we were in her office she was drawing up the contract she was on the phone with her sister, then her other sister. I think I had her undivided attention about maybe 10 minutes the entire time. Just long enough to explain to me what my costs were, what my interest rate was and sign here, sign here and sign here. Then we were done. I never felt so rushed my entire life. She made us feel like we were cattle and she was the herder......get 'um in, get 'um out. Customer Service was extremely poor. Then about four days later I get a call from Mrs. Banuelos saying that they had found me financing and that my payment was going to be lower but that I needed to drive up there to sign a new contract. So that Saturday we went up to Universal City Nissan. To our surprise Mrs. Banuelos had gone on vacaction and so we saw another finance manager Ben. After waiting 15 minutes for him to come out of hiding he rushed me into his office, sat me down and asked me what did I need. I then told him that Mrs. Banuelos had called and told me that I needed to come in and resign my contract. That she had found me financing and that my payment was lower and needed to resign. So he left to go find my paperwork. When he returned, he briefly looked through my file and asked me where my $2000 check was for the down payment. I told him that the sales rep was going to come out when I got paid to pick up a check. He was more concerned about that check not being in my file then anything. So he then looked at my contract and told me to sign here, initial here and so on. Never had it been disclosed to me that the reason why my payment was lower was because Mrs. Banuelos had taken off the warranty that I had originally purchased. That's the reason why my payment was lower. Not because she had found a finance company that lowered my payment. But ofcourse I wouldn't have expected Ben to know this, because this was not his contract. He was only there to help me because Mrs. Banuelos was not in. Now how I found out that I had no warranty was because about a month later, the motor in the driver side window burned out. I then took it up to Universal City Nissan to be serviced and I showed them the warranty that I had purchased. The customer service dept. told me that they had no record of this warranty on file and would need to look further into this. But still they proceeded to fix the window. So that Monday I called finance dept at Universal City Nissan and spoke to Mrs. Banuelos. I asked her why was there no record of the warranty that I had signed on 6/17/12. I still had my copy of that paperwork. So we went over the contract that I had resigned and that's when she told me that I didn't have a Warranty and so I was then liable to pay for the service that I had had done to the window. We went round and round about this. That had I known that I had purchased a car with no warranty that I would never had purchased the car. So then she tried telling me that the finance company should have offered to sale me a warranty. So then I called the finance company Exeter Finance Corp. in Irving, TX. So I called Exeter, explained to them what was going on and the told me that that was not their job that they only finance cars not offer warranties and that if Universal Nissan had any questions that they could contact them. So I called Mrs. Banuelos back and told her that I had called the finance company and was told that they didn't offer warranties to their customers and her reply was oh, no you missunderstood me I never said that. What I meant was that when I went up there to resing the contract that I should had been offered to buy a separate warranty outside of the contract. I told her that she was sneeky and runn'n a scam that she's wrong doing what she did. Then she tried to put it off on Ben and how he should had offered me to purchase a warranty outside of the contract. I tried telling her that how could she expect him to offer me to purchase a warranty when he had no idea what was going on. He only had to me sign the contract because she had gone on vacation. No one explained anything to him. So she was trying to put her skrew up off on someone else. So then I talked to Ben and told him what was going on. All that he could say was sorry. So then he asked me, "Well if I would have offered it to you, it was too expensive and would you have been able to pay for it?" I told him no but that I would never had purchased the car. And all that he could say was sorry..........Then, knowing that I had bad credit I also asked Mrs. Banuelos if I would be able to refinance my car at a lower rate because I was paying 18% because of my bad credit and she said sure that's not a problem. So when I called Exeter about my Warranty problem I also asked them about refinancing and what Universal had told me. Again, they apologized but that they do not refinance cars. That what I'm paying now which is $491.00 is what I'm going to be paying for the next five years. I told me that I couldn't afford that. That Universal had told me that after a year I could refinace with them. Once again Universal lied. They are a company that is out to skrew people. No one is held accountable for their mistakes and we the consumer are being told basically to bad so sad. This is not right what they've done to me. I'm a mom of two young boys, a husband is unfortunately can't find a job because of our wonderful economy and we have a car that has no warranty and now I'm expected to pay Universal City Nissan for the motor that had to be replaced in the driver side window. And I've only had the car for three months. I will never ever ever purchase from this company ever again. And would neve recommend them to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. They scam people, they are a bunch of liars and are out to make a buck off any possible way. Please help!!!! I'm about ready to just give the car back and walk away but I want by $2000 deposit back that I had given to them when I bought the car. They took my money and that's not right what they've done. Lord only knows who else they've skrewed.
