I received a telephone call asking me if I have been called about my magazine subscriptions recently because they wanted to offer me reduction in my magazines rates. I had recently added some new magazine subscriptions and assumed that this was a reference to these. I said no one had called recently so the caller Identified her name as Jill said she was going to give me over to her supervisor and be sure to give her a good recommendation if I found her to be congenial. So I was passed along to the supervisor who wanted my address and phone number. She then stared to talk about how she wanted to give me some reductions in my rates. She wasn't able to verify what magazines we were talking about because she didn't have that information. She quoted me a rate reduction to $59 a month for 3 to 5 magazines to which I replied that I found that terribly expensive for 3 to 5 magazine subscriptions and I wanted to cancel these. She said that I had agreed to that rate 10 weeks ago. Supposed, I had agreed to pay over $60 a month for 3 to 5 magazines subscriptions each month for 36 months! AND I could not cancel it! I informed her that I was calling the Better Business Bureau and reporting this. No one ever mentioned the name of this magazine subscription business. I tried to look the name up by reverse telephone number. It came up unlisted on the Atlantic coast of Florida by the area code. I tried to locate a charge on my credit card 10 weeks ago and couldn't locate anything out of the ordinary. Now I'm thinking that this was a "fishing trip" with a company that I had trouble with 5 years ago. Same kind of deal where they lured you in with a inexpensive vacation but tricked you into agreeing these expensive magazine subscriptions. I guess these people are hard to shut down. I just had to report this.
