I took my car in to have the shocks and coil springs replaced on the front of my honda civic. I had purchased the parts from a friend of mine. When I took my car in i asked them if they could install them on my car? The guy said "sure, should be about $90.00." I said great lets do it. Well this "certified professional" mechanic came back to me 2hrs later, and said that he took off the old ones and put the new ones on but they would not fit, so he put the old ones back on my car. They still expected me to pay the $90.00, and said it was my fault that i got the wrong parts. That i bought the wrong parts maybe so, but im not a mechanic, how was i supposed to know. He, on the other hand, should have known that the parts were incompatable before going through the process of working on the car. I refused to pay for the "service," and they told me that they would keep my car and call the police. I had to leave for work so I had no time to go through a confrontation like that. So basically, I paid them $90.00, and my car is still in the same condition as before I took it to Meineke. I paid for "their" mistake, and it is not fair to me or the next sucker they get to come in thier shop. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!! and never take your car to Meineke!

  • George. He only charged you $90.00 for two hours worth of effort. It was not his fault that you supplied the wrong parts, it was your fault. Struts and springs for the front of a Civic come in many shapes, sizes and varieties. There is little chance that he could have determined that they were wrong simply by looking at them. Take responsibility for your own mistake, and stop trying to blame the installer.
