I was hired by latasha rogers via elance.com. I am a freelance writer on there. Latasha liked the work I did for her so she referred me to a company looking for writers called "wordzforhire". Theresa Smith is the owner and hired me to do work. She had many writers on her team and used a program called Basecamp to post work for each specific writer and a program called Dropbox to upload the work. Everything seemed great. Shortly into it, I noticed work seemed to slow down for many but not for me. I had to contact Theresa a time or two in regards to pay. Latasha sends out an email stating she has to take a leave of absence from the company due to personal reasons. I don't think anything of it. I did notice from then, the work being submitted into Dropbox was less and less and only by me.. Prior to this, there must have been over 20 writers submitting work. Theresa started getting behind on pay... at least 3 weeks and every time I asked about it, she had an excuse.

Ranging from- paypal disputes having her money tied up, clients not paying for work, etc etc. She always promised to get me caught up. 8/23/12- I have an email stating she would catch up my money, just waiting for payments from clients. Never happened. I stopped doing work for her because I stated I could not work for free, she understood-apologized-and stated it would be fixed soon.

Latasha recently contacted me and I told her what was going on. She stated other writers had come to her to and she apologized. Most of the writers just moved on. She did get me in touch with another writer that is also owed money. She states Theresa just blocked her emails from coming through and has yet to collect. She knew of other writers who were also owed money. The writer today sent me a url to a blog where other writers are claiming Theresa Smith has committed this scam since 2009 and just continues to get away with it. I still have not been paid and recently lost a job in June and I have no income. I trusted in this woman's word and she should not be allowed to do this to people.

Theresa has been pulling this scam since 2009. I received a url to a blog of past writers complaining about her unethical business practices and not being paid.
