Like many other complaints for this company, I was called on Monday 9/17 and asked to complete a telephone survey for Walmart and that I would get a $10.00 Walmart gift card and a $100.00 gas card via email. All I would need to do is to click and I could redeem both cards. The woman who called was friendly and said she would walk me through the process. I was told to go to wakanetwork.com website, use my email as ID login and my telephone number as the password to take advantage of other discounts. I had to provide a credit card only to cover the processing fee of $2.99 for the gift cards. I have never received an email from this company. As of 09/18/12 my checking account was charged $2.99. I was given the telephone number 877-332-1490 to call and cancel if I didn't want to take advantage of the additonal savings, but could still use the gift/gas card. I was also told to activate the email first before cancelling. I encountered computer difficulties at their step 2 by getting a message stating I had not filled in all the cc information. I then found that there was a bad phone connection. I was going to call the number back and be sure the transaction did not go through. I got delayed and did not call right away. I was paying bills on Tuesday morning (9/18) and saw that my checking account was charged a 2.99 fee from wakanetwork.com. I went to find the number I had written down and could not find it. I figured fine I am out 3 bucks. I sat to pay bills this morning (9/20) and I find that my checking account has a pending charge of 59.99 from this company. I started researching and found that it is listed as a scam. I started reading other complaints and decided to call and speak to a rep. I finally got through after being on hold for about 20 minutes. I spoke with a woman (I did take her name down) I explained everything that happened and told her I did not want to be a part of the Waka Network and that it had not even been 7 days and my account had already been charged more than the 2.99 fee and I would like a full refund. She indicated that she cancelled my account and that I would see a full refund in 3-7 business days. I did ask for a confirmation number. I am also calling my bank to block any other transactions from this company.

  • It has been less than an hour since my above complaint and phone call with the waka net work and I already see a reversal on the credit card charge that was pending in the amount of 59.99. I will post tomorrow if everything goes through and if it is resolved.

  • The pending charge to my bank account for 59.99 was rescended and I was not charged that amount. I am out the original 2.99, but lessoned learned!
