First off, no excact dollar amount yet - still counting!!! I was forced to put one in or I couldn't submit.
Saga starts July 27th when I discovered my Maytag dishwasher, model MDB7600AWW had developed a crack in the bottom right rear of the tub, causing my countertop to buckle and water to cover the floor under it. Called dealer I purchased it from, he explained that there was a 20 yr. warranty on the tub with free replacement if it failed. Call Maytag.
Called Maytag, I must schedule a service call to verify the tub is cracked.
Service call July 30th, 3 minutes and $75 later, yup, tub is cracked. A known problem, and they'd already replaced this model for other customers.
Call Maytag July 30th, finally directed to Jennifer. She'll get back to me with replacement details.
Meanwhile, did my own searching of models and called Jennifer July 31st with a replacement suggestion. She'd check and get back to me.
Aug 6th, called Jennifer, got voice mail, left message.
Aug 7th, went online for chat. Was told I'd have a replacement within 10-12 days. They'd get in touch to schedule installation.
Aug 17th, called Jennifer, left message. Called dealer, he made calls for us and gave us the name, number and work order for the replacement. (He'd been cut out of the equation!) Installation was tenatively scheduled for Aug 23rd - we'd be contacted.
Aug 22nd, call Maytag again. Sorry, Optimus Solutions is handling it now. Seems the replacement was shipped to the wrong address and returned. It was shipped again - hopefully to the correct address - and tenatively scheduled for installation Aug 31st.
Asked to talk to a supervisor, sorry, it won't do any good.
This whole situation is totally outrageous and aggravating. Maytag was bought out by Whirlpool, and since then the service sucks big time!!! Meanwhile, I'm washing dishes by hand, which is no picnic with my hands like two pieces of raw mean because I suffer from psoriasis. (No, I can't wear gloves - my hands sweat and makes my hands worse.) I bought a dishwasher because of the psoriasis and shouldn't have to be washing dishes by hand. If there was no warranty, I would have replaced this dishwasher the same day!!!! This whole situation is unacceptable and disgusting. Why can't the original dealer replace this unit??? He did it for other customers.
Whirlpool service sucks. Maytag took care of their customers. Whirlpool has muddied their name.
I am telling everyone who will listen to stay away from Whirlpool and Maytag products. Check out their website and stay away from ALL their companies and products. (I was very dismayed to find out their connection to Direct TV. That dropped my opinion of them, too.)
I purchased all Maytag appliances for my new home in 2003. I will never purchase another Maytag or Whirlpool product. You can be certain I will purchase from another company, after a LOT of research.

  • This complaint was resolved. . .well, at least I got my replacement dishwasher. It took until Sept 5, 2012 to get the replacement dishwasher. I don't even want to remember all the aggravation, excuses, unanswered phone calls, etc. Dishwasher was supposed to be installed between 1 & 3pm. No dishwasher. Called number in my caller ID, got tech, said he'd be there between 1 & 5pm. Finally turned up at 7:30pm. Didn't want to take old dishwasher. The whole situation was totally unacceptable. No more Maytag or Whirlpool products for me!
