Unfortunately this happened several years ago. Recession hit and I was looking for extra work. I answered an ad that said something along the lines of “get paid to have fun” – they wanted someone to go to clubs to promote their sound system.

The company was Soundivision, outside of Laurel, MD. Unassumingly, I went to their office for an interview. I met with a Russ Raynor. He talked to me for a few minutes, told me the job was about promoting and going out several nights a week; decent salary, too. After a few minutes more of discussing when I can start, he asked me to go into another room and take some pictures, apparently, to see if I had "what it takes to promote."

I stupidly let him take just a head shot, but he wanted me to start taking off articles of clothes – not just my jacket, but he was alluding to my pants, top, etc etc!! I told him no and walked out. Wanted to put this out there for other people who may be considering answering ads like these. I found this ad in the Employment Guide outside Baltimore, MD. I reported this to the local police, the Employment Guide, and also the BBB.

As I stated before, this event happened several years ago, and I am sure the Soundivision office has closed/moved out of the area, but these creeps may be doing some of the same dirty practices. I have also looked up Soundivision and all I can find is that the name Platinum Audio and now SounDivision or Soundivision has been associated with the “white van speaker scam.” My advice to anyone looking at ads/jobs like this, or if they hear the name Soundivision — RUN AWAY FAST IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
