A & E Factory Services came out to service our dryer and ice-maker. It was a $70 dollar trip and diagnosis charge for the dryer and a $75 charge for our refrigerator. Both were supposed to be applied to the total cost of the repair. Our Kenmore Gas(2001) dryer had a blown thermal fuse. The tech said it was $26 for the part and then proceeded to charge us $142 for the install. The trip charge was not applied to the cost of the repair because it was completely fictitious. The same happened with the tech that showed up to repair the refrigerator an hour later. Our Whirlpool Elite refrigerator (2008)needed the ice-maker replaced. The tech charged us $218 for the new ice-maker and then proceeded to charge us $172 for the install. Once again the $75 trip charge was completely made up...did not exist. Pleading with company representatives got me nowhere...actually heard another phone representative in the background, laughing at my complaint. Since I originally scheduled this through Sears Home Services I called and e-mailed them to complain as well. Company representatives said these charges were correct even though the scheduling department gave me bad information. Had they not lied to us, I would have never used their services. Warn others to avoid A & E Factory Service and Sears Home Services like the plague. I do not wish to see others scammed out of their hard earned money the way we were.

  • as a fellow applaince repair person, our company also charges a trip/diag fee that applaies to the repair if you decide to do the repair, but the term applies is meant as that the trip/diag fee is due and paid for our service up front when we arrive, and once we find the problem, we give you a quote, if you ok the estimate, we then apply the trip/diag fee to the amount due to complete the repair. I wonder if they normally are to collect up front? Cause i question, how do you apply an amount, when it has not been paid yet? also the amount you have listed, is real close to our charges for those type of repairs also. Hope this helps or might be informative
