I would just like to say that living here at Newton House just off Moseley road has been a bit of an experience. The boiler man and emergency boiler man have been in numerous times throughout the year since (sep 2011-aug2012).One day we had to call 3 times!! Opal has finally forked out to replace a part and now seems to be working, but many mornings myself and housemates have not been able to have shower/ do washing/washing up etc.. For the last month living here the coded doors on one side are completely broken and anyone can walk into the building..I am the only person (I think) living in Newton completing my Masters and I do not feel the contract has been followed by opal...I was also promised to have my booking fee of £100 back to me to secure my room (in sep 2011) I have asked throughout the year and have been ignored. I am now being told it was an agency fee and would not be getting it back, even though I was told i would it was a booking fee.

Also there have been water bills coming in which i have repeatedly taken down to opal estates in fallowfield and they said to ignore further bills and they would sort it with head office..they obviously have not done so because yesterday i received a debt collectors letter which has really stressed me out 3 weeks before the last year of my education...I feel like Opal have not stuck to their contract of high security and have ignored many complaints made...We have had students move in with us who have smoked and it took about 6 weeks of complaining to opal to get them evicted. I would not recommend saying you are a student to opal, sometimes it just seems as though you are taken advantage of and ignored!!
