A fax was sent to my work as a Memo to the HR Dept titled "Airline Land Package" with a United Airlines logo.

This paper stated a 6 day 5 night trip to Cabo, Cancun, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Puerto Vallarta, or Mayan Riviera was available at the price of $175 per person with all meals (+alcohol) included at a five star resort. Also, a "bonus trip" of 4 days 3 nights to Orlando or Las Vegas was included.

The number to call is (877) 634-9804 with a reservation code of United747.

This is a well-orchestrated scam in which you talk to a representation who supposedly transfers you to a Visa/Mastercard person for payment and then another person to record you agreeing to the terms and conditions.

They claimed an email would be sent out requiring an electronic signature that had to be replied to within 24 hours. I called back (unknowingly on a different phone line, which I presume is why they answered) and told them I didn't receive the e-mail. They said they'd resend it. I began to get suspicious when an hour had passed and no e-mail had been received. I called back, no answer. I went to United to see if I could find the deal but couldn't. I put the title into Google and it showed up here, on Scambook.

After calling my credit card company, the pending transaction can not be stopped and I will have to wait until it is posted to file a dispute.

Moral of the story: If something sounds too goo to be true, it is. I will never make this mistake again...
