I recently moved to GA on advice from my physician. He felt warmer weather, away from mold, cold, dampness and lack of sunlight may help me. In March, I relocated to a nice place with washer and dryer 'hook-up' capabilities. I saved some money and decided to start looking for a used washer and dryer; could not afford a new pair, not even one. On or about 6/8/2012 I responded to an online Adv for a washer and dryer on ClassifiedAds.com. I saw several, called a few people but when asked where they were located in relation to stone mt GA, the distance was prohibitive. I saw Maisha Harriss had a washer and dryer for $200. I called to get details and a pleasant young lady shared all with me. She told me the pair was only two years old, a Frigidare Brand, she decided to buy new furniture and appliances and sell the used items. She would take a money order and have someone deliver it for an additional $50. I shared with her I may have a man who owns a truck that may pick it up for less since my funds were limited. She agreed to give me time to contact him and get back to her. She also said that she and I could load it onto a truck because they were not that heavy. I told her that I was an older person, not strong enough to accomplish that task. She then said she would keep them in her garage until I found a person to pick them up. I sent her the money order for $200 (cost to send it $12.00) and called her the next day 6/8 to see if she received her money. She stated "yes",and sent a email later that day asking if I received the receipt she sent. I asked if the washer and dryer could be pickekd up on the 19th of June. During the interim, a friend who has a truck agreed to pick up the appliances and told me it would be $60 due to the distance (I'm not familiar with Atlanta yet) I agreed, knowing him to be honest. Ms Harriss was expecting the appliances to be picked up on the 19th, but a call came on the 15th unexpectedly to come 'home' to WI; serious illness, ICU 4 days, resulting in my sister in laws death. I notified Maisha of these circumstances; she obviously did not understand that I was out of town and had to change my flight due to funeral arrangements made for Sat 6/23. I emailed Maisha and called but got no response; left voice mail to inform her of my return to GA on 6/23, 9:33pm flight; she was persistent that someone come on 6/24 Saturday, I printed a map with directions to her home; in the meantime, Maisha emailed and said Sat would not work out, there would be no one at the property. She changed the date for pick up to Sun 6/25 at 3:30.My friend said he knew where she lived; he got lost, called me to get directions. Maisha left at 4:15 according to the email she sent on Tuesady indicating that she would not be sending any more emails and she could not continue to hold the appliances since I had made so many changes. I asked if they could be picked up on 6/26, she agreed and said she was taking her daughter to the Dr. She continued, "it doesn't matter if its later than 5;after 6 or 7, I'll be here; you know how Dr's offices are, we may have to wait for a while, we may not be seen until the last patient." Her conversations were unlike her emails; and I thought that strange from the demanding email she sent just that morning. When he arrived; the daughter was about to let him in and Maisha came to the door and said " you have the wrong house." He charged me $40. Maisha sent another email demanding a final date of 7/2 she would cancel the agreement since she has been charged "well over $200 to store the appliances" and she had taken the AD off the internet and is not worth waiting any more. The AD is still on the internet with a different phone # - never was any mention of storage costs, or inconveniences mentioned. My friend who was working and agreed to go on Mon evening of 6/2. She agreed; my friend arrived to get the appliances, he was told it's too late and shut the door. After the last email I have tried to reach her; no success. I am 68 yrs old, with a chronic skin condition that requires me to wash daily; sheets, nightwear, towels and I have spent the $200 I saved for the washer and dryer; paid the man with the truck $110. for the # of trips to her house only to be standing at her garage; where she said the appliances were and not outside as she promised they would be; he was told. "it's too late" when she told me (orally) she would be home and it didn't matter if he came later (I told her her would not get to her place until 7:30 or 8:00 pm; she said "ok, I'll be here anyway." Initially, she left the first time after 45 minutes when the man got lost and didn't bother to wait for a few moments after I called her to let her know. This lady is a fraud. She talks one way and emails as though she is someone else. Please try and get some of my money so I can look further for a washer, at least. Thank you.
