I work in a large US institution who is currently intrested in mapping foundations and charitable organizations in Switzerland. Within that scope, I reached out to ABC List in order to obtain a basic list of organizations. The price of the list (which was supposed to be delivered by email, in an excel spreadsheet) was GBP 330. Before I ordered it, I asked Mr. James Barwell (list manager) to send us a sample - which he never did. Instead, he guaranteed that the list was comprised of the largest foundations in Switzerland. Therefore, my team and I decided to purchase the list. First, the deliver was not immediate, it took ABC List more than two days for them to reply after payment was done... and after several emails were sent. Second (and most importantly), the LIST WAS COMPLETELY WRONG. Instead of listing foundations, the list was on the largest companies in Switzerland!!! something that we could easily obtain by checking companies' names listed in the Swiss stock exchange!! We asked Mr Barwell to send us the appropriate list or to reimburse us the money spent. After several emails again... we received an answer from Mr. Barwell saying that reimbursement would be done two weeks ago. Until the present date July 31st, we have not received any reimbursement and he is currently not responding emails nor calls. Therefore, in addition to (i) making sure that my company will never use ABC List again, (ii) filing complaint with the credit card and (iii) letting my legal department take care of it, I would also like to share this bad experience with you so that you are aware about this unreliable company.
