    • Mansion Apparel Co. (aka Dan Miles, Dandelow Miles, Isaac Brutton) Complaint / User Submitted Image #13480

About 5 weeks ago, I answered an ad online about a start-up company seeking investor "seed" capital of $5,000 to purchase $30,000 worth of retail name-brand clothing. In exchange, investor would be given 30% ownership of his company (in which he informed us that he was a sole proprietor), along with 5,000 shares of common stock ($1/share). Owner (Dan Miles aka Dandelow Miles) assured both me and my business partner that we would get back our initial $5,000 in 21 days, plus an additional $5,000, 9 days thereafter; and since we would be 30% owners of the company, he also promised a projected monthly gross income of $7,000 per month, starting the following month. After several phone conversation, and after receiving an signed Agreement via email, we gave Dan Miles the $5,000 investment via Paypal, which he then partially refunded about a week later and requested the balance be paid via bank wire. This seemed suspicious, but he explained to us that Paypal started to investigate the transaction, because in the "Note" section, we mentioned the nature of the transaction being a purchase of a stake in a start-up company. Communication was good at that time, and because we had already received a (digitally) signed Agreement, copy of his alleged articles of incorporation, and saw that he had created a website (www.mansionapparel.com), complete with shopping cart, etc., and a Facebook account (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mansion-Apparel-Co/178660532199431) for the business, we agreed to do the wire transfer. After he received the money, things began to change. And 5 weeks later (after he received our $5,000), we could no longer reach him by phone (only by email/text - at his request); was in breach of contract twice; has not returned our money and keeps making excuses or asking for extensions of time; and never sent us retail merchandise equal to our $5,000 investment as collateral; worst yet, we could never obtain a valid government "picture" ID from him, proving whom he claimed to be. Because of this, we did our own independent investigation and made a somewhat startling discovery. The name "Dan Miles" and/or "Dandelow Miles" was completely FAKE, which made the signed Agreement, addendum and articles of incorporation that we received from him COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!! In our investigations, we discovered that his "legal" name is Isaac "Ike" Richard Brutton and he is approximately 22 years of age, with multiple mailing addresses that appear to be private mailboxes. This would explain why he never returned the notarized promissory note that we requested (because of his FAKE name), is no longer "reachable" by phone due to his "hectic" schedule (so he told us), and most importantly, never returned one cent of our $5,000 to us! Because of this, we had no choice but to open a dispute claim with JPMorgan Chase (our bank), Armed Forces Bank (his bank), Paypal (for the partial balance owed) and will also contact the FBI and SEC. Even now, whenever we call him, we get a voice mail message that mentions his phone number only (it used to have his voice and said "Dan Miles"). He has also been in breach of contract twice, but most likely doesn't care since he signed with a FAKE "alias!" They say "Only fools rush in" and unfortunately, that's what we did. We did not take the time to perform all of the necessary due diligence on this individual and his alleged company ownership because we were trying to meet his "72-hour" deadline. We are presently exercising all legal options. I guess what they also say is true: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" We let our guard down big time with this "con artist" and have been scammed out of $5,000; plus will still have to pay whatever initial legal fees in order to file a civil suit against him in his state. And yes, we have to take some responsibility for carelessly going into this venture without first consulting an attorney, but that still doesn't make what he did to us acceptable! This was our first experience dealing with this kind of particular "online" transaction and we have learned our lesson well. The first time was buying an out-of-state investment property from "hell" via the internet; but that story is meant for another thread! I just wanted to share my experience with you so that if you ever come across a "Dan Miles," or "Dandelow Miles," or "Isaac R. Brutton," or "Ike Brutton," caveat emptor! If you order from his website, he might try and steal your identity! There's no telling what this lying bastard will do to your personal information! This is only the beginning of our legal fight against him, as we refuse to be a victim to any piece of garbage con artist out there!! And fortunately, we have saved every email communication we ever had with him, as well as stored voice mail recordings he left for us. We're in this for long haul! If any litigation attorneys from the state of Colorado are reading this and would like to take on our case, contact me at: propertytaxsave at yahoo dot com. Good luck to everyone else and remember to NOT accept being a victim of fraud, a scam or a con!
