WHAT TO DO IF YOU WERE SCAMMED BY SHOP-CORA:
I just got my money back from Paypal, so I want to let you all know exactly what you need to do not only to get your money back, but to help put Shop-Cora out of business.
WHAT TO DO:
1) Do an online complaint to paypal.com, via their website.
2) Call Paypal!!! The online complaint isn't enough. You need to call. Go to paypal.com to ask to call. They'll give you a 6 digit number to use when you call. You can bypass most of their automated voice prompts by saying, "Agent" at any time.
3) Paypal will contact Shop-Cora. Some of you never received anything from Shop-Cora. Others of you received either sponges or shower caps. In either case, part of this scam is that Shop-Cora will tell Paypal a tracking number for what they sent you. Then Paypal will ask you to return it and provide them (Paypal) with a tracking number.
4) DO NOT RETURN THE SPONGE OR SHOWER CAP!!! Call Paypal again and tell them what happened. Urge them to put Shop-Cora out of business NOW. They will decide this case in your favor and you will get your money back. I did.
SOME FACTS TO BE AWARE OF:
1) Shop-Cora used to be called "Rios", and operated a similar scam, which was put out of business by Paypal.
2) The Shop-Cora website was made using http://www.route.lu.com. I have reported them to this company and urged them to shut down Shop-Cora's website asap.
3) Please file a report to this online international scam watchdog, which will also work to shut down Shop-Cora: http://www.econsumer.gov
Let's shut down Shop-Cora and stop more people from being scammed!!!
Good luck--Andrea

  • Hi Andrea,
Thanks for sharing your story & telling us what to do. I had already filed a dispute w/ Paypal on their site so this is what I just received from them today. I DO NOT want to go sending a shower cap back to CHINA! What is the point of that exercise? Do you think that if I call them they will let me out of that request? I mean if they really want me to do that I suppose I have to. But isn't that nuts?

    Disputed Amount:
    $89.10 USD

  • Well, I can't believe it but I did exactly what you said, Andrea and I received my refund in full w/o having to ship a shower cap to China. I spoke w/ someone named Kayla. Thank you so much for your advice!

  • I had the same experience, but didn't' ship the shower cap back. It actually freaked me out when I got an unsolicited package like that from China. (friends thought maybe it was because I signed up for free stuff from somewhere) The cap was a little dusty and having been around a mailroom after 9-11 it didn't sit well with me. It was only a few weeks later that I realized that the cap was part of this scam.

  • Hi, Japonesitaloca,
YAY, I'm so glad my advice helped you. I'm really annoyed with Paypal for not shutting down Shop-Cora yet! At the time I complained, there were 99 complaints here in this site. Now there are 116! While I was happy that Paypal refunded my money, I don't understand why Shop-Cora is still in business. I reported Shop-Cora to multiple places. Susan, call Paypal, too. You can get your money back. If we all call, maybe Paypal will eventually take action and end their business relationship with Shop-Cora. Good luck, everyone!
