The best way to explain what happened is the email I sent on Tues., July 2:

Hello Janet,

My name is Shirley Santistevan. You referred me to David Brooke for an interview. On June 15, David contacted me and hired me. I began working with David June 16 and have been in contact with him daily except Sunday, June 24, and Sunday July 1. We have encountered a problem with the check that was sent to me for the purchase of the equipment mentioned in your email dated June 2 (Working Equipments - You would receive a payment from our company which you will use to purchase the listed materials below and this payment will come to via Check.s: 4 in one (fax, scanner,copier and printer), Zebra ZM400 Bar-code printer and cards, 4 drawer cabinet and office desk,HP Pavilion HDX18-1180US 18.4-Inch Laptop (2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium). You are required to contact our designated vendor for the purchase of the materials as soon as funds gets to you.). It took 1 week for the check to arrive ($2620.00). I deposited it immediately. That Monday, I went to the bank and withdrew the funds as per David's instructions and wired the funds to two different people via western union. On Thursday, June 28, I checked my bank account because I needed to make a personal purchase. I found out the check for the equipment had been returned and my account was -$2620.00. I told David immediately about the problem and he assured me that a check would be sent to me immediately that would cover the overdraft, any overdraft charges, and my pay that I had earned so far. It is now Tuesday, July 3, and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY FUNDS TO CLEAR UP MY ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also still not received any equipment. All of my bank accounts have been frozen. I can't even use the money that was in there B-4 your check bounced. We have no groceries. My son's birthday is in 2 day. July 4th is tomorrow and the bank is closed and won't open again until Thursday, July 5.

Since you are "Head of Operations" for New Egg, I was hoping you might be able to get me my money and the equipment more quickly than David is able to. I contacted David Friday, June 29, at 8 am and he put me on hold for the rest of the day. I contacted David at 8 am Saturday, June 30, and he put me on hold for the rest of the day. I contacted David Monday, July 2, at 8 am and he put me on hold for the rest of the day. I contacted David this morning and he has not signed out nor has responded anymore than a "morning".

Today, I called the company "New Egg". The people in this email don't exist in their company per David Lung (human resources).

  • There are more people involved. David appears to be the main contact. I have copies of western union transactions and a copy of the original check on the way from my bank.
