My family in Europe paid about $4000 to a company called "Pathfinder Recreational Rental LTD" (website is www.canadacamperrental.com ) to rent an RV in Canada. They stopped communicating with them after they paid through bank transfer and there is no way to get in touch with them. They have no phone number and no address listed on their website and no one seems to have heard of this company.

- I have the same issue with this company, but I 'only' paid $840 as a first installment. There are several more people under ask.com that also have similar negative experiences with this company. I have filed a complaint on www.ic3.com

Sascha et al, I am not sure what we can do here, but yes I am sure everybody would at least get their money back. As mentioned I have filed a complaint in the US on www.ic3.com and with the 'better business bureau' in california. If enough people complain about the same issue maybe they will take some steps. I have also contacted the bank in barcelona with a request of information on the account holder. I have little hope that any of these steps will lead to much. Finding out who stands behind this would be good. I am not even sure that this person/company is based in the US. They could be anywhere. Their web site is hosted on a server somewhere. Does anybody have the IT knowledge to find out where that server is, who owns it and contact them to find out who is behind the website and the e-mails. Involving the police may help if they prioritise these kind of matters. Here in Norway I have very little hope that the police would do though. On the other hand 'pathfinder' may be reading this, get scared and disappear all together?
All in all, I am happy to help, get involved and take necessary steps as long as there is a good chance of success to recover our losses. Keep me informed if you hear anything or get anywhere. -

- The website canadacamperrental.com is hosted under IP 108.179.199.118 in spain, same place our money disapeared to. Maybe ask your local police to get in contact with the spanish police to follow this up?

- somewhere in my email correspondence the name "name" Heinz Schulz "appears in one of the mails. It is clearly not the intention that the name should appear. I do not know if it leads to something. As I noted in my complaint, we paid to a bank in Germany, Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf. I have written to the bank, but they will not give information about their kunder. I plan to speak to the Danish police and hope that they will move on to the German police ...

Hi Jochen and "the angry dane"
So it seems that we are three people interested in a solution. Jochen has already filled out a form in www.ic3.com and the angry dane spoked to the danish police. For my person (Sascha) I didnt`t act till know. If we put the power togheter maybe we can find a solution. As always somebody has to take action and the lead of the group for a "little" class-action lawsuit. Maybe I and the angry dane can attach on the claim Jochen was already made on www.ic3.com. So my question ist if you, Jochen, had some response from them and if you could question them if it would be possible to act for all three of us and what can they do for us????
The "others" are welcome to join. Please let us know..
