Carlos contacted me through facebook and wanted to be friends.The photo was of a gentleman well dressed standing in a classroom setting with a globe nearby.
Told me he was educated at university in Mexico, he was a Mexican. Worked for the Mexican government in the Drug Squad to eliminate drugs , in Mexico. He became friendly , I started writing to him as I thought he was a decent man. Said he was a Christian and went to a Salvation Army service. He said he was going to Washington to lecture on drugs to students. By this time, he was becoming very interested in me and said he wanted to come to Australia to meet me.
After Washington he went to said he had to go to Canada rather than come directly to Australia where he stayed for a few days. He then told me he needed money for a BTA, Basic Travel Allowance. That he only had credit cards and because of his position in the government he needed to have cash. By this time was becoming emotionally involved and his son also emailed me telling me his dad was stuck in Canada and couldnt leave. I was very hesitant and did not want to send him the money. but he promised to give it back to me as soon as he came to Sydney.So stupidly I sent him the money by money transfer. He then went to Dubai and tried it again saying he had to have more BTA to leave Dubai , the address then was in Nigeria that I had to send the money to. By this time I knew I had been scammed . So didnt send any more money.
