I got a text message saying I won a $1000.00 gift card for my purchases from Walmart. I would also like to know how they got my number, I'm on the do not call list. I thought that covered everything, including text messages.
I hope Walmart is looking into this matter. If, not, it makes them look bad.

I know where you're coming from. I've received a text like that, too, and unlike most scam text messages being reported, the message I got has my name. It said, "Congratulations, Mr. M. D! You've been selected for a free $1000 Walmart Giftcard! Enter the code 'FREE" at www.walmart.com/whmt.giz to get it now. Only 116 left! Text OUT to stop."
So you see? How did the sender know it was me who owned that mobile number? He could be following me, for all I know. Can't the authorities do something like track him and throw him to jail? -

- The sender used 904-305-7627 and if you'd look it up online, you'd find several complaints associating it to this Walmart gift card scam. Http://www.callercenter.com/904-305-7627.html shows some posts made by people who received text messages from that number.
