Cyber Defender scammed my elderly father and is possibly guilty of theft by deception and predatory selling practices in my opinion. My father (who is far, far from computer savvy) called Cyber Defender because of a pop-up on his computer telling him his computer was at risk. And although his 9-year-old computer was still working perfectly, convinced him that he needed a technician to "clean up" his computer at a cost to him of $199. They also convinced him he needed to pay them $14 per month to keep his computer operating properly.
Nobody who knew what they were doing would spend $200 to "fix" a computer that was not only functioning OK for what he uses it for, but was also virtually worthless otherwise.
When I called to complain, the representative noted my complaint and asked to speak to my father. She then had the audacity to actually try to talk him into more "services", and of course, more charges!!!!
Again, this company is guilty of predatory practices and possibly even theft by deception in this case in my opinion.
Stick with AVG, Norton, or McAfee.
