I purchased the blender in October of 2009, and was very happy with the power it had and with how it could liquify whole fruits and vegetables. But I started noticing a brownish liquid coming out of the top of the motor and spewing onto the inside of the bottom of the carafe. I just kept cleaning it off for a long time. Then it dawned on me that this "stuff" was oil (smelled like oil, was greasy like oil, hey, it must be oil!) and that perhaps this situation could create a fire or an explosion, since motors need oil to operate properly. So in January of 2011 I called and explained the problem, and they said they'd send me a new base, I just had to pay the $29.99 shipping charge (as stated on the warranty). So I paid the charge and a full month later I received a new base. Well, it did the exact same oil spewing thing that the first one did, right out of the box. So I immediately called back and told them and they sent me a shipping label to ship the replacement back so they could send me yet another base. When the 2nd replacement came and I tried it, again, it started spewing again, right out of the box. I called again and told them I wanted my money back, that this is clearly a design flaw in the motor, and that I've had 3 different motors that all did the same thing. The warranty states that the motor is warranted for 100 years and that "if repair or replacement is not feasible, a refund of the purchase price" will be issued. The customer service guy said he would credit my Discover card with my full purchase price ($239.92) and that I need not return the original blender. That was in April. I called again today (Aug. 13) and now it's sounding like a guy in India is answering the phone. I explained everything and he said it wasn't the company policy to issue refunds after the first 60 days. I said the motor is the problem and it has a 100 year warranty! He said they would "investigate the problem" and I should call back in a week. I'm afraid I'm not feeling very optimistic about the outcome of their "investigation"! I'm now out $299.90 (the 239.92 blender and 2 shipping charges of 29.99) and i'm afraid to use the blender, lest it burn down the house. I should've spent a little more and bought a VitaMix!
