I bought a EMCO storm door in 2006. Recently the screen jammed in the track to change from screen to glass. I have also noticed that the door is warped and does not fit properly. I tried to correct the jammed screen and in the process, discovered the core of the door is pressed wood which was soaked with water and had mold on it. They use a product known to warp in a door wrapped in aluminum. I wrote the company to complain and received no response. I am shocked that such an expensive door would use something that is certain to fail in weather conditions. They do not back their product and offer no help.

  • Did you try contacting EMCO's customer service @ 1-800-933-3626? When you call you will need the serial number on the door. This door situation will probably be covered under the warranty.

  • I realize that this is an older complaint and the time for action may have long since passed however - I filed a warranty claim with Emco for this same type of door which comes with a 10-year warranty on Nov 20/12 and was ignored. I politely followed up twice after that and they continued to ignore me. Then I emailed them again - much more terse and potentially threatening. And I copied three senior executives at Emco/Andersen on my email. I got a response the very next day and formal confirmation three days later that my warranty claim had been approved.

If that's what it takes to make them "do the right thing" then it's good that Andersen is not publicly traded so no shareholders will end up taking the hit for their bad business practises.

I really think someone should be making and posting some "United Breaks Guitars" kind of videos on YouTube to draw attention to this company though.

Oh - those three executives? Sure.. here ya go.. Have fun and good luck.
