Was contacted by phone last evening, person saying that because Microsoft Anti=Virus warranty had expired (Never had one to my knowledge) that my computer was being invaded by viruses and would eventually fail.Being of Senior years and not being computer savvy, and very naive I allowed him to take control of the computer! On this happening the screen was filled with pages of warnings and errors which he said they would clean out , for a fee of course, from $279 for 3 years anti -virus to $399 for a lifetime warranty. Not wanting to have my computer frozen or die I agreed to pay the $399 by credit card(reluctantly). The Bank would not allow the payment and the person asked me to ring the Bank to unblock the payment. In the meantime the Bank had left a message on my phone to ring Bank Security which I did.I was told that this was a scam and that they would cancell my card an issue me a new one. I was very fortunate that the Bank Security was alert and saved me from a very foolish and embarrissing time. This company has no morals or scruples preying on the unsuspecting .
